Adam House![]() Alan White I’ve been a Rider-Coach with Salt lake Community College for two years. I'm qualified to coach the Basic Rider Course (BRC) and the Experienced Rider Course (ERC). I started riding motorcycles at a very young age, in my parent’s backyard and received a motorcycle endorsement at the age of 16. I have enjoyed a variety of motorcycles over the past several years. Currently, I own two motorcycles, a late 80’s, high-octane “sand scooter”, and a fuel efficient, budget busting “commuter scooter”. I look forward to enjoying the next motorcycle course with you in attendance.Alex Hansen Alex Hansen has been riding close to 20 years and has been a MSF instructor for 6 years. In addition to teaching the Basic Rider Course, Alex instructs the MSF Advanced Rider Course and the Utah Motorcycle Association / USBA Advanced Rider Training Course at the Miller Motorsports Track in Toole UT. Speed while skillfully mastering the corners on the track is Alex’s passion. A native to West Jordan UT, Alex grew up riding the challenging twisties of the local canyon roads. He owns 2 bikes; a Suzuki GSXR 1000 and an SV 1000. When he slows down a bit he enjoys touring with his wife Shannon and hanging out with his family.Barry Bolduc Through 35+ years of both street and dirt riding, I always come back to the same thing-I love it and enjoy teaching others and watching them get the “bug” of riding on two wheels. An ex-motor cop from California (it was a long time ago-I don’t let it go to my head). My days are filled with middle-school VP and science teacher duty so coaching others to ride a motorcycle is almost too much fun. This is my fourth year with SLCC rider education and I look forward to seeing you on the range with a big smile across your face. BMW’s, both older and newer share the garage with a Harley but I can always find room for a lonely, classic British Triumph twin. The motorcycles keep getting better and easier to ride, come join in on the fun! To quote Cesar, well sort of, “Veni, Vidi, Nam veho (tute),” I came, I saw, now I ride (safely)..Brian DeBotelho![]() Chandler Briggs![]() Claudean GallupDakota I have been helping with Salt Lake Community College Motorcycle Training for the past two years since I retired from Law Enforcement as a passive indicating drug dog. I am notorious for providing encouragement, entertainment and a helping paw with the cones.Hope to see you on the range!!!! "Only a biker knows why a dog sticks its head out of a moving vehicle" Dan Terry I have been riding motorcycles since the 1960's. I like to ride in the dirt, on the road and in any combination. I ride about anything on 2, 3 or 4 wheels, but enjoy riding on long easy rides with my wife. A basic desire to help others learn to do the same is my major motivation. I have been teaching for Motorcycle Safety Foundation since 1994 and have enjoyed watching riders learn to ride. Riding gives us an opportunity to enjoy the open air and be in the elements. Riding touring bikes, cruisers, sport and dirt bikes all give a unique experience all of which bring satisfaction and I enjoy sharing it.Dave Robertson I started riding motorcycle when I was in college at the University of Arizona in the 1960s. In those days, the less expensive motorcycles were two stroke machines. I had a variety of Yamaha and Suzuki bikes, all larger in cc displacement than the last one. I did day rides, used the bike for transportation to school - later for transportation to work, did day rides, and cross country travel. I have always had a love for the open road, and the road less traveled. I gave up my bikes when my wife announced that she was pregnant. I got back into biking in 1999 and joined the Gold Wing Road Riders Assn. This group encourages yearly training to acquire new skills and hone up on old ones through the training classes sponsored by the GWRRA. I became a rider coach as a way of giving back what riding coaches had given me over the years. I still enjoy my day rides with my wife and doing cross country travel on my motorcycle, a BMW R1200RT.Debbie Whitlock I’ve been involved with the Motorcycle Safety Foundation program the Salt Lake Community College for the past 2 years and am certified to teach the Basic and Experienced Rider Courses. I began riding dirt bikes as youngster and competed in professional hill climbing throughout my teenage years. Riding street bikes has been a passionate hobby of mine for the past 20 years, and I truly enjoy teaching others.Edward Rosco I've been involved with the Motorcycle Safety Foundation program at the Salt Lake Community College for the last eight years. I'm qualified to coach the Basic Rider Course (BRC) and the Experienced Rider Course (ERC). I started riding motorcycles in the mid 70's and enjoy all types and styles of motorcycles, especially Ducati sport bikes, KTM dirt bikes and large displacement dual-sports. For the past several years I've worked with the KTM factory race team for the Baja 500, Baja 1000 and the KTM North America Adventure Tours program. I'm currently an active club member in the Utah Beehive Beemers and the Utah British Bike Club Kevin Sullivan![]() Laura Barnard This is my sixth year as a rider coach, teaching the MSF curriculum. I rode a bit as a kid then took a few years off to raise a family, then got back on. So I have been riding awhile. I really enjoy helping others develop skills to keep themselves and others safe on the road. I love riding, any bike, any time, any where.Mark Schaerrer I have been involved in motorcycling for the past thirty plus years with an emphasis on teaching motorcycling education for the last fourteen years. I would like to start by telling you that I was one of those who started out wrong (self taught), and so when I learned how to ride correctly I found out just how ill-informed I was. What I learned, I learned the hard way, through close encounters of the very personal kind. It wasn't until I became a Police motor officer in the 1980's that I received my very first introduction to formal motorcycle training, and boy were my eyes opened. I wanted to take my passion for motorcycling into teaching and so I took the Motorcycle Rider Course (MRC) course from Salt Lake Community College and the Motorcycle Safety Foundation or MSF. I found the skills I had learned years before were the very same skills I was now learning to teach to the public. I can say without any reservations on my part, what you learn here with us at the College will be the most current information possible. I look forward to spending time with you and being your coach. Learn to Ride and Ride to Learn. See you soon.Michelle Havranek I have been working for Salt Lake Community College teaching the Motorcycle Safety Foundations Basic Rider course and the Experienced Riders course for eight plus years now. I’ve been riding motorcycles for many years and it’s truly a passion of mine that I can’t seem to find enough time to fulfill. This last year I was afforded the opportunity to receive training to become a RiderCoach Trainer. An area of equal interest to me is education and training. I feel very fortunate to be involved in a field where I can share my knowledge, passion and experience. Mike Cox![]() I am in my second year of teaching as a RiderCoach. When I was 16 years old, I took the Basic Rider Course and the things I learned in that class have helped me have a very safe and enjoyable experience while riding. Through this program I was able to learn, and continue to learn, the proper riding technique from the beginning of my riding experience. Riding is a passion that I have, and I love to share with everyone interested in learning. I currently ride a 2007 Suzuki GSX-R 1000, and have had other sport and street bikes since I started riding. Nothing beats feeling the wind all around you, a winding road at your toes, and 163 horses at your fingertips! “Four wheels move the body… Two wheels move the soul” Roi Agneta Motorcyle riding has been a passion of mine for over 40 years (yes, they were making them back then). My first bike was a 125cc Honda, which I purchased while stationed at Pearl Harbor in the US Navy. Many more bikes of almost every type and brand have come and gone over the years. I enjoy both sport bikes and long distance motorcycle touring. Nothing beats stress better than packing a tent on the back of your bike and hitting the road with some friends.2009 will be my sixth year as an MSF Rider Coach, and I look forward to sharing my enthusiam with lots of you during the upcoming season. Ryan Rigby This is my second season as a MSF Rider Coach. When I took the Basic Rider Course years ago I had never been on a motorcycle before. I learned much more than I expected to and the class was a lot of fun. I recommended it to everyone I knew that talked about learning to ride. When the opportunity to become a Rider Coach presented itself last year, I enthusiastically joined on, and love teaching these classes. When I am not teaching, I love to ride my Honda Shadow and spend time with my wife and son. Shannon Hansen Shannon Hansen has been a MSF instructor for 6 years. She works full time as a physical therapist at University Hospital in the Orthopedic / Trauma Rehabilitation Department. Her advice to riders of all skill levels is, “Take the Basic Rider Course so the chances of me seeing you at my regular job are next to none!” Shannon has been riding 16 years and enjoys touring with her husband and the Canyon Chasers on her Suzuki V-Strom 1000. “It’s all about being comfortable on a bike that performs well.” She earned her Doctorate of Physical Therapy at the University of Utah and is happy to share her expertise in motor learning to help students learn to ride safe.Spencer Riches This will be my second season teaching with Salt Lake Community College. I am qualified to teach the Basic Rider Course (BRC) and the Experienced Rider Course (ERC). I started riding ten years ago, and has become a passionate hobby of mine. I love riding the canyons we have in our wonderful state on my Yamaha V-Max. It would be great to have you in our course. See you there!Steven King![]() Tony Ostoja![]() TJ Johnson I've been involved with the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) program at the Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) for the last 4 years. I'm qualified to coach the Basic Rider Course (BRC) and the Experienced Rider Course (ERC) and other versions of motorcycle training. I started riding motorcycles during my time in the United States Air Force (USAF) in the 80's. Currently, I own a Honda Goldwing and a Honda VTX1300. I like going on group and long distance rides.Terry Lewis I feel like I was born on a motorcycle as I have been riding them so long. I have been riding motorcycles close to 45 years and each one I have owned has been a love affair. I currently ride a Sport Cruise Motorcycle and I am on it all most every day. My father was one of Utah’s first motorcycle pioneers he owned and rode motorcycles in the 1940’s when most people had only seen one in the movies. As soon as I could run I was on 50cc mini bikes. In my lifetime on two wheels I have owned and/or ridden every brand of motorcycle including brands that are no longer manufactured. I have owned motorcycles in every class i.e. sport, cruise, dirt, and enduro. When I first got married in 1979 my wife and I bought a new 750 cc motorcycle together, and we didn't own a car for several years there after. My biggest memory of that time was the big snow in 1982 when I was using my feet, as ski’s to get around. I have taught for the Motorcycle Safety Foundation for 9 plus years and I really enjoy working with people to keep them safe on the roads. Over the years I have learned that the techniques we teach in the course save lives, including my own. Tom Barnard![]() Vince Rocco I have been a licensed motorcycle rider since 1976. I was originally certified as a MSF Instructor in New Jersey in 1995 and taught there for one year. I relocated to North Carolina in 1996 and taught the RSS curriculum for five years through the North Carolina Community College system. In 2000 I relocated to Utah and have been teaching as part of the Salt Lake Community College program since that time, which included the change of curriculum to the current BRC. I have owned various street bikes including sport bikes, cruisers, and touring bikes. When not working, riding or teaching the BRC my pastimes include mountaineering, skydiving, snowshoeing and hiking, backpacking, and skiing. I have climbed the highest peaks in South America, Africa, the Rockies and the Pacific Northwest. “Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out and shouting Wow, what a ride!” |
